Sparkling Snowflakes

'Sparkling Snowflakes' by Neil Burley

The beauty of winter snow can really be captured with the wide range of WOW! embossing powders and glitters - all the glisten and sparkle without any of the cold and disruption! I've put my project in a frame, but the project could be equally well adapted to a card or scrapbook layout.

You will need:
WOW! Blizzard clear stamp
WOW! Earthtone Blueberry Embossing Powder
WOW! Blue Glitz Embossing Glitter
WOW! Blue Blast Embossing Glitter
WOW! Nice Ice Blue Embossing Glitter
WOW! White Twinkle Embossing Glitter
WOW! Silver Bells Embossing Glitter
Clear embossing ink
Heat tool

How to make this project:

  • Ink up the WOW! Blizzard stamp with the clear embossing ink and print onto a piece of white card stock. Cover with WOW! Blueberry and tap off the excess. Heat set, allow to cool and cut to size (in the picture it is 10x10cm).
  • Cut three pieces of heat proof acetate (suitable for photocopiers/laser printers) to the same size and then rub over with an anti-static bag to remove any finger marks.
  • Using suitable stamps (e.g. Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Grunge Flakes) print images on the acetate layers and emboss with the different colour embossing glitters, bearing in mind they will be layered and can overlap each other. For the image above, acetate layer one (bottom) - top right (Blue Glitz) and bottom left (Blue Blast); layer two top right (Nice Ice Blue) and bottom left (White Twinkle); layer three from top left clockwise - White Twinkle, Blue Blast, Blue Glitz, Blue Blast and then Silver Bell in the centre.
  • Use foam pads at the edge of the layers to stick them together onto the stamped card.
